Goshawk at Even Hønsen Agerup’s Hide

Here are a few goshawk pics taken this past Friday and Saturday at my friends Even Hønsen Agerup’s hide.  Took over 2000 images and I’m still editing my way through them but here are a few of my favourites so far.

Goshawk

Canon 5D Mark III with the 500mm f/4L IS. ISO 6400. 1/60 sec @ f/4. Really impressed with the performance of the Canon 5D Mark III at 6400. Remember to click on the image to see a larger sharper version.

Killer light

Goshawk in killer light – Canon 1D Mark IV with the 500mm f/4L IS + the 1.4x teleconverter. ISO 3200. 1/250 sec @ f/5.6. Remember to click on the image to see a larger sharper version.

2x teleconverter

Canon 1D Mark IV with the 500mm f/4L IS + the 2.0x teleconverter. ISO 3200. 1/160 sec @ f/8. I prefer to stop down one stop when using a teleconverter but there just wasn’t enough light but I was pretty happy with the sharpness I got. Remember to click on the image to see a larger sharper version.

Goshawk 4

Canon 5D Mark III with the 500mm f/4L IS. ISO 3200. 1/160 sec @ f/5.6. Remember to click on the image to see a larger sharper version.

  1. the one in the sunlight looks great Andy. Beautiful bird…

  2. Cheers Chris, yes its beautiful light but my fav so far is the first image. Colours are better than what you see over the internet and I just like the ‘feel’ of this image. Yes beautiful bird…heading back this coming weekend for another go :)

Greta shots of the beautiful goshawk!

  4. Beautiful pictures. I especially liked the first picture.

  5. Hi andy, Dan Stringer from Colorado US, we fished a few years back…I loved the Goshawk pics, but can’t find Goshawk in my NZ bird books…only NZ Falcon. Thoughts?

  6. Hey Dan

How are you? Have you made it back to NZ for another fishing trip?

Yes you will have trouble finding the goshawk in a NZ bird book. I live in Norway these days, so the goshawk was photographed there and not in NZ.

    Merry Christmas to you

    Andy

  7. Ah, Norway. You went from one great place to another. Well done.
We have Northern Goshawk in Colorado.

Andy, your pics are simply great.

    Cheers,
    Dan
